A new build studio is to utilise the existing ancillary buildings and studio
to the rear of the plot to create a more updated, functional ancillary building as an additional
space to the host building, that fits in with current legislations to accommodate and
improve the quality of life for Guyan Sharma (a severely autistic individual).
Our main prerogative is to create a space to encourage and support Guyan’s passions (Guyan
is a promising artist) and develop his sensory systems through multi-media therapies to
enrich his and his family’s quality of life. This will allow Guyan to develop and grow whilst still
being able to live with his family.
The design utilises the existing space that is used on the site (which accomodates Guyan’s
necessary programmatic needs in a fragmented spatial sequence (dotted around the house
and site)) to create a more efficient, functional and nurturing space which accomodates all
of the required programs within one spatial vicinity. This will result in a more productive
work space for Guyan and also allow for a more efficient care space for Guyan’s family, thus
improving the quality of life for the whole family.
